Dangote remain No 1 richest man in Africa, Forbes

According to Forbes’ Africa 50 richest 2015 released, Dangote still remains the number one richest African for the fifth
year in a row, but his $16.7 billion net worth is nearly $5 billion lower than
a year ago, a result of a drop in the stock price at his Dangote Cement and a
weaker Nigerian currency.

Dangote lost N1 trillion ($5 billion) in one year as a result of drop in prices
of shares at the stock market in Dangote cement even as he retains his position
as Africa’s richest man.

Suleiman Bello,Former Minister of Power, on Thursday said that one of the major problems in the
power sector is the incompetence of ministers appointed to man the sector over
the years.
Suleiman Bello said this to the Senate Ad hoc Committee on
Power during the ongoing power probe that another problem was that the
ministers appointed were usually given a short period of time to work.
Saying that, although there is no doubt that privatization
was a good step, the 2005 Environmental Protection Regulation Act (EPR) must
also be reviewed from time to time.

The Governor of Osun state Gov. Rauf Aregbesola has called
on government at all levels to work towards total eradication of female genital

In 2015, 7,436 Nigerians crossed European borders illegally says EU
The European Union on Monday said 7,436
Nigerians crossed into Europe from Nigeria illegally in the second quarter of
2015.
Mr Richard Young, EU Deputy Head of Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, made this known on the side line of a news briefing on migration in Abuja.
Young
explained that the figure was the number of irregular migrants that were
officially recorded by the EU Border Agency, Frontex.
He said that out of the 7,436 immigrants, 7,124 illegally
crossed through the sea borders into Europe during the period.

According to a report by Vanguard , ABA- A group, South East
Progressives Assembly, SEPA, has threatened court action against President
Muhammadu Buhari and the ruing All Progressives Congress, APC, over the
inability of the Federal Government to commence the payment of the monthly Five
Thousand Naira (N5,000 stipend) to unemployed Nigerian youths.
President Buhari and his party, the APC had during their
campaigns promised to drive its Change policy through certain programmes which
